I was called by a friendly warranty sales rep named Mike. 15 minutes into the conversation (see, I even talk to sales people!) he says, "You're a what?" I mentioned I was a birth doula and was not sure of my yearly mileage (his question to me), as I recently moved to a new city, and was unsure of the mileage I would accrue.
He eventually got back to his own line of questioning, but for 6-7 minutes, he wanted to know what I did, when parent's typically hire me, and if I was the only one of my kind (ha!). He said, "My wife just had a baby 3 months ago and we want another child soon, and I now want a doula. How do I get a doula for my wife?!" I invited him to email me with his location, and I'd put him in touch with some awesome doulas in his area.
What a trip! I loved it! If only he lived closer to me!
But now I'm curious. You are here on this page for a reason. How did you learn about doulas? When did you know you wanted one?
